The Iris scanner is
another form of biometric (biology measurement) system. It scans
the unique patterns in the eye and compares this with a user
pre-learnt into the database.

More suited to commercial / high security applications the iris
scan has a small presence in domestic access systems due to it's
high price.
One of the hidden qualities / issues with some iris scanners is
that they can measure blood pressure and heart rate (to ensure the
eye being scanned is still attached to the owner!) for this reason
they can record information about the health of the people being
scanned.
In a proactive environment this data could be shared with the
users to the benefit of all, in a draconian environment, HR
decisions could be based around this information also. Big brother
is watching you...
